They charged her $37 dollars to charge the brand new battery. Why you may ask? "Because computers [plural] use the battery even when the car is turned off."
This is the 2nd time Dan's Auto has claimed a bogus explanation for an auto service. In the past I've had a bad experience, and this time it's my mom. (she only had her car serviced by Dan's Tire only because AAA goes through this terrible business)
Went in originally because that's where AAA sent me - stayed because of the great service and knowledgeable staff... Dan is great - talks about options, explains what you need vs. what you could have, and describes everything in layman's detail. Everyone who works there is professional and polite and exceedingly helpful. There's a comfortable waiting area, they are true to appointment and wait times, and prices are reasonable - particularly considering the level of service.
I was rescued via AAA last night by Dan's. I had locked my keys in my van. Service was super quick, barely a glitch in my evening. Driver was sweet and even let me give him a hug. Thank you!!
Well, the battery died again - 2nd time. After being jumped again my mom took the vehicle back to where the battery was from; Dan's Tire & Auto, to be serviced.
So, if this were true, apparently new vehicles sitting at dealerships are excluded from this reasoning? Did any mechanic explain/CHECK what was drawing power? NO. But Batavia Automotive is going to. :)
3. She used her warranty to jump the vehicle.
1. She received a new car battery w/ a warranty.
We're fortunate it was only $37 bucks, but at least have a reason for your services, explain the reasoning, and be more thorough. Avoid the this minga 'business' at all costs.
4. Come to find out, the car never needed a battery; it was the alternator. 5. This was told by a BETTER business in: 'Batavia Automotive'.
Anyways, the girl at the front desk, chomping her gum, with a nasty look, told me to talk to Dan. "Well who's Dan?" -> Found Dan -> Dan reiterated the same BS.
If you're reading this review - please avoid going here at all costs. There are numerous mechanics in Batavia, like Mavis Tire, Dunn Tire. Even Wal*Mart is better for the love of God. I'll be making this same review on all platforms & media including the Better Business Bureau.
It was quick, which is why they get two stars instead of one. My brakes went and the parts were $120, tax was $80, and labor was $500! That's garbage on how much they wanted for labor, and the brakes weren't even stiff like they used to be before they went. We had to go back in order for them to fix it and make it feel like my brakes weren't going to immediately go on me again within a day.
2. The new battery died shortly after.
I had my yearly inspection, as well as an oil change done here this past week. They have a great waiting room (free wifi, large tv, etc.) Their customer service is great. They made sure to answer all my questions and went over the important details of my inspection. They offer several deals/packages that can save you money and things like a free oil change. You can tell the management/owner appreciates the business and makes an effort to get you to come back. I know that I will be :)
